How You Think Comes Out In What You Say

How You Think Comes Out In What You Say

“Believe in yourself!  Have faith in your abilities!  Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers, you cannot be successful or happy.”

-Norman Vincent Peale

In frustration Sally said, “I'm overwhelmed.  I have too much to do, yet I don’t want to disappoint my boss. I’ll just postpone some of my difficult tasks and work on some easier ones.”

Sally has entered the realm of Scarcity Thinking.

Being overwhelmed and frustrated, she's become fear-focused.  Her fear will attract the very condition she wants to avoid (i.e. disappointing her boss) and will ultimately derail her Greatness Journey.

However, if Sally would choose to focus on the truth of who she is and what she excels in doing, she would regain her confidence and thus be better equipped to control her circumstances.

How you think is often revealed in the comments you make.  Keep your thoughts and words positive.

Are You Stuck In Reverse?

Posted on February 17, 2016

"Don’t dwell on what went wrong.  Instead, focus on what to do next.  Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer."

- Denis Waitley

On any given day, we may feel that things are not going well for us.  We have too many uncontrollable demands on our time and resources.  We feel overwhelmed.  This often leads to us not getting tasks done and to frustration, the feeling that we are being blocked from achieving our goals.

Being overwhelmed and frustrated is like your DVD player stuck in reverse: it will not get you to the end of your movie.

At this point, consider pressing the “pause” button and take a moment to focus.  Clarify the tasks or initiatives you want to accomplish.  Prioritize your “to do” list.

Now, press the “play” button.  You’re moving forward once again, putting your planning into action. You're able to accomplish your initiatives.

When things are moving, growing, flourishing, you’ve hit the “fast-forward” button, the feeling of being overwhelmed and frustrated is far behind you.  You are in your zone and in control of your life!

With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

I always enjoy watching the conclusion of a graduation commencement service when the graduates toss their caps into the air.  You can almost hear a collective sigh of relief.  “Now, finally, this experience is over.  We made it through those four years!”

Yet, for those of us who have been through a commencement celebration, we know that it is really just the beginning

In a sense, each new year, each new day, is a commencement, a beginning.  What will you choose to do with that new beginning?  What opportunities will open up to you because you are alert to them?

Will you embrace the opportunity to bring happiness into the life of someone who very much needs it?  Will you accept the challenge of learning something new that might come in handy in the future?

Will you make the decision to progress further on your Greatness Journey?  And, make the conscious effort to enjoy each step of the way?

It's a new year . . . what better time to "commence" the rest of your life.
